Book publishers

Publishers will print and distribute literature, certain types of publishers will work with a specific type of literature, for example book publishers would be responsible for the publication of books. If an author had written a book they wished to be distributed then they would most likely contact a variety of book publishers who would either accept or refuse their manuscript. If book publishers were to accept the work then a fee would be negotiated and the author would receive royalties for every copy of the book sold, however the book publishers would now own certain rights to the authors work, although in most cases it would still remain their intellectual property. An author could possibly expect to have their work compromised as book publishers will frequently edit books to suit their market and some authors may find the books being sold on the shelves are quite significant rewrites to their original work, for this reason an author may become dissatisfied with their book publisher.

Book publishers have a long history and since the earliest developments of the printing press their have been book publishers, although the modern book publishers has advanced a great deal since these early days. Book publishers have many factors to take into consideration other than the actual printing of books, there is a great deal of marketing strategy implemented by modern book publishers who have to consider the various demographics of people they sell to and the sort of books they are interested in.
